On October 15th, MercinTreno, the national forum dedicated to rail freight transport, brought together institutions, industry operators and logistics stakeholders for an important opportunity to discuss and exchange views on the future of intermodal transport.

Our CEO, Pieralberto Vecchi, spoke on the panel ‘Mercintreno in business,’ focusing on crucial issues such as the management of numerous infrastructure projects on the European network and the concrete impact these have on companies in the sector.

In his speech, he emphasised: “The closure of the Fréjus tunnel due to a landslide lasted over 19 months. We do not dispute the works – infrastructure needs to be upgraded – but the timing: such a long suspension goes beyond what can be considered an extraordinary event. In general, it is essential to ensure greater integration between institutions, infrastructure managers and railway companies for the management of ordinary interventions, while for extraordinary ones, a greater sense of urgency is needed.”

At Ambrogio Intermodal, we believe that the 21st century is the century of rail and that only through continuous and collaborative dialogue between all players in the system will it be possible to support and accelerate the development of rail freight transport.
